* Rapidly designing and implementing a new process for cross-department coordination at ACE USA Insurance to improve their end of year financial reporting.
* Redesigning a Tuft’s University department charged with raising over $1B over the next few years; including development of a new mission, vision, values, and goals for the department, as well as the definition of its core customer-facing business processes.
* Delivering the NY State Project Management Mentoring program; working with the next wave of project leaders across the state government.

Alonzo R. Peña is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Prior to accepting this position, Mr. Peña served as the DHS attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, where he was the department’s senior diplomat and liaison to the government of Mexico. As the direct representative for the Secretary of Homeland Security in Mexico, Mr. Peña was a leader in fostering increased counter-narcotics and law enforcement cooperation with Mexico and other regional partners. Mr. Peña served in this position from July 2008 – May 2009.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg announced the appointment of Seth Diamond to head the City’s Department of Homeless Services. As Commissioner, Mr. Diamond will continue to direct the City’s efforts to prevent homelessness, and provide short-term emergency shelter and re-housing support for New Yorkers who need it. He will also look to further enhance support systems for shelter clients who are working, and assist them in making the transition out of shelter to self sufficiency. Commissioner Diamond succeeds Robert Hess who told the Mayor last month he would be accepting a position with The Doe Fund. The Mayor made the announcement in the Blue Room of City Hall, where he was joined by Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Linda I. Gibbs, and outgoing Homeless Services Commissioner Hess.
